As Buono grows, we are working to reduce the environmental impact of how we produce our food. Our approach focuses on using resources more responsibly, reducing waste, investing in cleaner energy and water management, and finding practical ways to give materials a second life. We know this is an ongoing journey. By improving our operations and working together with our employees, partners, and local communities, we aim to make meaningful progress one step at a time.
Cleaner Energy
Harnessing Solar Power
We are investing in solar energy to reduce our reliance on conventional electricity and support a more efficient approach to manufacturing. By generating renewable energy on site, we aim to gradually reduce the environmental footprint of our operations.
Responsible Water Management
Treating Water with Care
Water is an essential part of food manufacturing, and managing it responsibly is an important part of our operations. Our wastewater treatment system treats water from our production processes before discharge, helping us manage water responsibly and meet applicable environmental standards.
Circularity & Waste
Turning Food Waste into Value
Through our Food Waste to Great Food initiative, selected fruit, vegetable, and food by-products from our operations are redirected to farmers in nearby communities for use as animal feed. In 2025 alone, 407.02 tonnes were provided to local fish farmers, helping keep usable resources in circulation while supporting the surrounding community.
Giving Materials a Second Life
We work with external organizations to keep valuable materials in circulation beyond their first use. Clean plastic bags are upcycled into new products, while PET bottles are collected for recycling initiatives. To date, more than 1,364 kg of PET bottles have been contributed, equivalent to 2,112 recycled blankets that support people in need.
Employee & Community Participation
Turning Participation into Positive Impact
Environmental responsibility becomes more meaningful when people can take part. One of our initiatives transforms used plastic straws into pillows for people with disabilities, with plans to expand participation among our employees and local schools and donate finished pillows to hospitals and elderly care facilities.
